A Logo is a specific symbol chosen to represent a company for brand marketing. Most logos are usually comprised of stylized type alone or in conjunction with graphic art. The best logo designs are ones that have art recognition associated with them to the point of consumers knowing the product without having to read the name of the company (for example, Nike).
